Comfortable Meditation Techniques

Learn many ways to be comfortable in meditation, in the houshould you can sit anywhere and being comfortable is extremely important.

Your comfort in meditation is extremely important, the way you position your self when meditating can have a profound effect on your meditative experience, your comfort always comes first over some techniques to contort yourself, in ways that may be a hindrance unless you are a Yogi and can easily execute the lotus position.

The easiest way to sit in meditation is in a dinning chair with a comfortable cushion place under your behind, as your mind will realize that if you fall asleep you may fall and pain ensues, not that it will happen just your mind will have that fear, it also is a great posturing position as you can use the chair to help keep you spine straight and your body upright using the chairs ergonomics to sit.

Another way to sit during meditation is to use a large cushion on the floor, either sitting crossed legged or kneeling, which ever you are comfortable with, this requires some balance and practice to go into a meditative state and not fall over during your meditation and if you fall to sleep it's not a long way down to the floor, with this posture setting you can also do intermediate to advanced meditations to achieve a higher state of meditation.

You can also sit your favorite lounge chair doing your favorite meditation, with a candle lit, this is especially great on a cold or wet nights, to add comfort to meditation experience, this is my personal favorite as it is comfortable it allows my mind to either focus or wander, it gives me the freedom to experience, if you are lucky enough to have an open fire place even better, you can focus on the crackling fire.

To combat fatigue in any posture setting no matter how comfortable you may be, you can use stress balls or crystals by placing them in the palm of your hand, slowly roll them in the around in a clock wise position, though do not allow the balls or crystals be a part of your focus, instead focus on your breath or on any meditation task your are approaching.

Using theses techniques in meditation can benefit you in your everyday life, your posturing and comfort are an important part of seated meditation and should always approach posturing in a extremely selfish manner as meditation is about you and you do need to look after yourself in every possible way you can, being comfortable in your seated position in important to achieve a meditative state, make sure your meditation experience is enjoyable by being comfortable.

How I Learned Transcendental Meditation It was the year of the Partridge Family, eight cent postage stamps and blue jeans with bell bottoms. That was 1971 and I was an under achieving senior in a middle American High School when I saw a funny looking poster on the way to my American History class. It had a large black and white picture of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on it and a lecture on Transcendental Meditation was announced for the next day in the school auditorium. I was intrigued and showed up to check it out. The speaker was a young man in a suit who spoke serenely of the silence deep within us and of the simple mental technique by which we could experience it and enjoy its benefits in our day to day life. I was very impressed with his calm demeanor and he seemed to really embody the...
